Training for the Management of Human Resources.
Department of Employment, London (England).
The recommendations of the report by the Personnel Management/Training Sub-Committee of the Joint Industrial Training Boards Committee for Commercial and Administrative Training are intended for the education and training of all those professionally engaged as specialists in the management of human resources. They are to be used as a framework against which individual situations can be assessed and particular needs identified. "The management of human resources is concerned with the optimum deployment and development of people within an organisation in order that the objectives of the organisation may be met and effectively adapted to changing circumstances." Behavioral science background was identified as the most important field of knowledge for professional competence. Topics discussed include: a modular scheme for developing professional competence, sources of recruitment into the profession, basic knowledge and skills, requirements for specialized functional areas, and specific practitioner knowledge and skills. Half of the document is devoted to appendixes of definitions, examples of learning experiences and modules, and sources of information. (EA)
