An overview of the final five monthly programs in the American Issues Radio Forum series broadcast by the member stations of the National Public Radio System is presented. These broadcasts started in September 1975 and continued to May 1976. They formed a "live" rational dialogue, focusing upon issues which have confronted America. Each program was divided into three parts, one hour each, and incorporated both studio guest experts and listeners' call-in comments into the discussion. The guide includes questions for thought, background material, and discussion for each of the following five programs: (1) Working in America; (2) The Business of America; (3) America in the World; (4) Growing up in America; and (5) Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. A bibliography of suggested readings for each program is included. (Author/DE)
