Presented in this teacher's guide are ideas and projects to help students develop an awareness and appreciation of their environment. Sharpening the senses is emphasized through activities dealing with water quality, sound qualities, and noise, air quality, solid waste control, and soil management. The text is divided into four levels roughly corresponding to grades K-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12. Most of the experiments require only simple materials, and several are built on related projects from previous grade levels. Half of the booklet is devoted to a bibliography of publications, films, and teaching materials/lesson plans in each of the subject areas. (BL)
