Off-Campus Student Housing Satisfaction
Delgadillo, Lucy; Erickson, Luke V.
Journal of Family and Consumer Sciences, v98 n4 p5-9 2006
Results from a survey of 180 students at a western university suggest that apartment manager's responsiveness and fairness explain 50% of the variance in determining student satisfaction with off-campus housing. Variables that measured aspects of the off-campus housing experience included manager fairness, likelihood of renting from the manager again, return of deposit, ability to study at the location, friendliness of manager, maintenance and upkeep, cleanliness of the complex, repair time, parking and enforcement, maturity of roommates, access to downtown. The quantitative analyses shed light on the need for students to read and understand leasing contracts. (Contains 2 tables.)
