Folkvine.org: Arts-Based Research on the Web
Congdon, Kristin G.
Studies in Art Education: A Journal of Issues and Research in Art Education, v48 n1 p36-51 Fall 2006
Folkvine.org is a website that presents seven Florida folk artists, three guidebooks, and several scholarly bobble heads that make commentary on humanities topics, the artists, and their work. This article analyzes the website as an arts-based research project. Topics covered address issues of representation, translation, learning processes, and ethnography. An attempt is made to articulate what Folkvine.org actually is and what this project and other collaborative media-based projects might mean to our future in terms of re-creating our world and the way in which we understand it. (Contains 3 figures and 4 footnotes.)
