Family Communication Standards: What Counts as Excellent Family Communication and How Are Such Standards Associated with Family Satisfaction?
Caughlin, John P.
Human Communication Research, v29 n1 p5-40 Jan 2003
Investigates the standards by which people judge communication in families. Presents three investigations that examine communication standards in family relationships. Suggests that both distressful ideals and unmet ideals are associated with family satisfaction. Notes that the results were consistent with the notion that family communication standards are related to, but distinct from, general family communication schemata. (SG)
