This guide for students with Attention Deficit Disorders (ADD) and their counselors and teachers offers practical advice for success in college. The 11 chapters cover the following topics: (1) the possibility of success; (2) definitions and characteristics of ADD; (3) diagnosis and treatment of ADD; (4) interviews with college students about their experiences; (5) case studies of three students with ADD who had a year or two of college; (6) case studies of two students with ADD who achieved bachelor's degrees; (7) case studies of two students with ADD who went on to law school and medical school; (8) analysis of the case studies in terms of students' emotional reactions, perceptions of learning, and reactions to experience; (9) implications for college students, including empowerment through self-advocacy and the need to pay attention to emotional reactions and maintain positive attitudes; (10) study skills (time management, the study environment, note-taking, and test preparation); and (11) the role of educators and counselors.
