China's problems with the quantity, quality, and educational concepts of teachers in institutions of higher education, as well as with relevant managerial systems, are in urgent need of resolution. We should start by making innovations to the system and constructing a modernized teacher base that is compatible with the marketplace. We must strive to build an innovative teacher base suited to the knowledge economy and to developing China's higher education sector. (Contains 1 table.)
