This report provides information on selected characteristics of certified public school employees between 1980-81 and 1990-91. Information on certified personnel in 1989-90 was not available. Certified employees are grouped into function areas such as teachers, principals, guidance counselors, etc., based on each person's primary work assignment. Information is provided on personnel characteristics such as average age and experience, racial and sexual composition, and college degree levels. The information gives a historical picture of staffing patterns and significant trends. Data were obtained from reports completed by teachers and school districts, with much of the data derived from Student Activity Reports beginning with the 1989-90 school year. The report is divided into the following sections: (1) teachers; (2) principals; (3) assistant principals; (4) central office administrators and subject area and support area specialists; (5) librarians; (6) guidance counselors; and (7) other certified personnel. In all, 77 tables present personnel characteristics. (SLD)
