The Relation between Motivational Patterns and Achievement Cognitions through the Elementary School Years.
Cain, Kathleen M.; Dweck, Carol S.
Merrill-Palmer Quarterly, v41 n1 p25-52 Jan 1995
Assessed the beliefs of first, third, and fifth graders about their ability and achievement and their motivational responses to challenging puzzles. Suggests that individual differences in children's cognition about ability and achievement are related to their motivational responses throughout the school years. Points out ways that these relationships develop as children's knowledge about ability and achievement continues to grow. (AA)
