Flexing Your Test Muscles: A Guide to Developing Test-Taking Skills.
Florida State Dept. of Education, Tallahassee. Student Assessment Section.
This booklet is designed for elementary and middle school teachers to use in teaching students how to improve their test-taking skills. The authors draw the analogy between an athlete preparing for the big race and a young student getting ready for an important test. The central character is an underdeveloped test-taking tiger who, after going through "test-taking calisthenics," including time management techniques, problem-solving tactics, and anxiety control, becomes a well-developed test-taking winner. The booklet contains answer sheet games, techniques for working test items, and helful tips to improve students' test scores. This publication, although developed by the Florida Statewide Assessment Program, is not directed toward use with that testing program alone, but is for use in any testing situation. (PN)
