This pamphlet is an annotated list of films on man and his environment, growing out of an original pamphlet entitled "Critical Index of Films and Filmstrips in Conservation" which is now out of print. Some films recommended in the original Critical Index still appear in this publication, but when they do, it is because they are of good quality and still valid. Priority to new selections has been given to short, clear productions that make maximum use of good teaching techniques. Production styles that invite discussion or stimulate positive action have also been sought. A few longer films suitable for general audiences and civic groups have been included. New films have been recommended by members of the Conservation Education Association and other experts in the use of audio-visual materials, and recent materials have been evaluated by panels from several institutions.
