What Is Heat? Inquiry regarding the Science of Heat
Rascoe, Barbara
Science Activities: Classroom Projects and Curriculum Ideas, v47 n4 p109-114 2010
This lab activity uses inquiry to help students define heat. It is generic in that it can be used to introduce a plethora of science content across middle and high school grade levels and across science disciplines that include biology, Earth and space science, and physical science. Even though heat is a universal science phenomenon that is experienced in the everyday lives of students, most students cannot articulate its scientific definition. This lab activity allows students to use science inquiry processes to further explore the science of heat and the misconceptions commonly associated with heat as they examine some of the multicultural dimensions of heat.
