This volume is intended for use in college courses that combine educational psychology with child and adolescent psychology or human development. Section I, an introductory chapter presents selective groups of readings in the field of child developmental theory. Sections II through X each deal with one of the explanations of behavior that have been emphasized by important theorists or schools of thought about developmental psychology or human behavior. Biological factors, learning theories, interpersonal experiences, environmental influences, group memberships, and cognitive determinants are among the areas covered. The final two sections of the book (as well as other articles) deal with research and problems that have specific educational implications. (CS)
