Shedding Light on the Personality Profile of Professionals in the Outdoor Community
Friddle, Clay; Tochkov, Karin
College Student Journal, v52 n1 p1-6 Spr 2018
The outdoor community has long been used to study motivation and sensation seeking. While sensation seeking is related to the personality traits extraversion and openness there has been little research conducted on the whole personality profile of this community. This study used the Five Factor Model and the Big Five Inventory to measure the personality profile of professionals in the outdoor community. It was found that professionals in this community tend to be more extraverted and open to experience than the control group. These individuals were also found to score lower on neuroticism.
