An Educational Journey
Marshall, James D.
Educational Philosophy and Theory, v41 n7 p774-776 Dec 2009
In this article, the author provides a self-portrait of his intellectual life. He states that his educational journey has always been something of an ongoing fight from his first day at primary school, to the secondary school curriculum and a social philosophy, and what he learned practically in the Navy. Changing the philosophy curriculum in education at Auckland was not so difficult but it took a long time to introduce a BEd. Why there is a need for a BEd when there is a BA was a widely expressed question. Other questions were: why does teaching require a subject such as education and, moreover, a "subject" called philosophy of education? (Contains 2 notes.)
