Managing Asthma in the Early Childhood Setting
Graville, Iris
Exchange: The Early Childhood Leaders' Magazine Since 1978, n201 p74-77 Sep-Oct 2011
Asthma, one of the most common chronic disorders in childhood, affects more than seven million children in the United States, and is the third leading cause of hospitalization for children. Statistics like these make planning and preparing for asthma in the early childhood setting a high priority. With the high rates of asthma in the U.S. today, it's likely that early childhood and school-age programs will have children in their care with this condition. This article offers suggestions that will help programs reduce irritants and promote children's health and development. (Contains 5 resources and 12 online resources.)
