This paper points out that creationists have developed a skill unique to their trade, namely, that of misquotation and quotation out of context from the works of leading evolutionists. This tactic not only frustrates scientists but it misleads school board members, legislators, and the public. A representative sampling of scientists' responses to misquotation and misrepresentation by "scientific" creationists is provided. The scientists responding are: Dr. Richard Lewontin; Dr. Niles Eldredge; Dr. Stephen Jay Gould; Dr. David M. Raup; Dr. Laurie Godfrey; Dr. Isaac Asimov; and Dr. Ashley Montagu. Their comments (which were prepared for this article or excerpted from previously published material) should lay to rest some of the claims that leading "authorities" in science are lending support to antievolutionary arguments or that evolution is no longer accepted by the scientific community.
