Alateen Members' and Non-Members' Understanding of Alcoholism.

Alateen (n=49) and non-Alateen (n=52) members were compared on knowledge and understanding of alcoholism. Results indicated Alateen members understood alcoholism as family disease and alcoholism as treatable. Alateen members suggested educational curriculum with message of successful treatment for alcoholic, whereas non-Alateen members stressed importance of understanding and gathering facts about alcoholism.
