Intended as an activities and resource guide for the Outdoorsman Project, this leader's guide supports the project's objectives of providing opportunities for each 4-H member to experience practical and real situations in the outdoors, instilling an appreciation of the environment in the participants, and encouraging environmental awareness. The manual contains: an outline of units and achievement day requirements; suggestions for program planning; safety tips for leaders; a checklist for campsites and equipment; basic first aid; resources in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia; a subject listing of information sources; a list of resource persons; environmental games (with a leader's guide); projects fostering environmental appreciation; answer guides for exercises in the various unit manuals; and a metric conversion table.
