Cooperative Education Guidelines for Technical Colleges and Other Associate Degree Programs.

Guidelines for cooperative education in two-year technical colleges as well as for other associate degree programs are presented in this 15 chapter manual. Chapter 1 covers cooperative education history, current status, advantages and disadvantages, purposes, and information sources. Chapter 2 on personnel presents an overview and discusses the director, coordinator, secretary, and program positions within the school structure. The necessity of committees is treated in Chapter 3 along with the planning committee and its subdivisions (curriculum, fiscal, calendar, and student affairs), visiting other institutions, and the advisory committee and proposed constitution. The chronology of setting up cooperative programs is the subject of Chapter 4. Chapters 5 and 6 deal with costs and budgeting, and funding sources. Chapter 7 treats public relations and selling cooperative education. Chapters 8-10 review scheduling and course selection, job development, and record keeping. Veterans, social security, the Comprehensive Employment Training Act, and unemployment are treated in Chapter 11. Consultation and evaluation are reviewed in Chapter 12. Chapter 13 deals with United States government participation, Chapter 14 with student affairs, and Chapter 15 with United States and Canadian cooperative education surveys.
