Matriculation Related Wastage in Nigerian Universities
Ofoegbu, Felicia I.; Ojogwu, Chiaka
Education, v127 n2 p163-175 Win 2006
The objective of the study was to provide substantial evidence on the rate of matriculation related wastage in Nigerian universities. Five federal universities were used for the study. The Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) admission list and the university matriculation clearance documents of the 2002/2003 and 2003/2004 admission years were retrieved from the University Admission Board (UAB) and analyzed for such wastage. The finding showed that the rate of wastage associated with the inability to matriculate in Nigerian universities was highly significant. Recommendations are made for administrative and management options to reduce the rate of wastage of potential undergraduates. (Contains 4 tables.)
