Outstanding Science Trade Books for Students K-12
Science Teacher, v83 n3 p61-68 Mar 2016
Science teachers and mentors continue to be challenged to meet the high expectations of "A Framework for K-12 Science Education" and the "Next Generation Science Standards." Indeed the Framework urges teachers to help learners "[build] progressively more sophisticated explanations of natural phenomena..." while the "NGSS" provide a model for "gathering, describing, and using information about the natural and designed world(s)." This article invites educators to explore this year's 2015 list of Outstanding Science Trade Books, which greatly adds to the 44-year history--and has been organized in response to "NGSS." In these award-winning books, the ready find not only traditional science content but also engineering and design.
