Integrated Telecommunications Planning for Metropolitan Areas.
Pilnick, Carl
Cable systems, used alone or in conjunction with other systems, can provide valuable and economical services to government, education, health care, and some business organizations. Closed-circuit broadcasts are particularly efficient when they are used to replace the transportation of clients or employees. Planning of such systems on a regional basis is deterred by the lack of appropriate planning agencies, by regulatory and competitive confusion, and by financial risk. In some cases, regional telecommunication systems can simultaneously use existing cable television facilities. The appendixes of this document show the results of surveys of Hamilton County, Ohio and Metropolitan Nashville which examine user needs and areas of interest for telecommunications. (EMH)
