The four issues of "Trustee Quarterly" contained in this document focus on topics of current concern to community college trustees. The winter 1992 issue offers articles on the trustee's role in politics, community colleges as community catalysts, Lewis and Clark Community College's (Illinois) strategic planning process, staff development activities and state audits, and college ethics. This issue also reviews key findings in the American Council on Education's "Campus Trends, 1991." Articles in the spring 1992 issue address the importance of board leadership in enhancing the quality of community colleges, new opportunities for colleges to promote community service, Miami-Dade Community College's (Florida) efforts to obtain additional funding from local taxpayers, drug education for educators, and the future role of community and technical college trustees. The summer 1992 issue features articles on faculty collective bargaining, the California Community College foundations' search for external resources, the University of Hawaii's partnership with the state's K-12 public education system to promote reform, the Supreme Court decision holding educational institutions liable for damages for sexual harassment of students, and the challenge of establishing college priorities in a time of fiscal austerity. The fall 1992 issue contains articles examining the need to make education free of gender, ethnic, racial, and economic stereotyping, building good working relationships between trustees and faculty, setting the compensation of community college chief executives, and the trustee emeritus policy adopted by Columbus State Community College.
