Societal attitudes, parental attitudes, and young women's abilities and interests and how they affect their choices of careers are examined. Attitudes toward sex-role appropriateness of occupations, women's anticipated career choices, career pioneers, masculinity v femininity, intrinsic v extrinsic job rewards, time of choice, and predictors of choice are discussed.
