Personal versus Professional Evaluations of Self-Disclosing and Self-Involving Counselors.

Evaluated the impact of self-disclosing and self-involving counselor responses. College students (N=80) evaluated audiotaped counselor-client interactions. Results showed no difference in positive versus negative disclosures. Self-disclosing statements directed the subject's attention toward the counselor while self-involving statements focused on the client. (WAS)
