CFAE: The Casebook. Aid-to-Education Programs of Leading Business Concerns.
Council for Financial Aid to Education, New York, NY.
Details of the aid-to-education programs of leading companies are compiled, revealing profiles of corporate purposes and policies in educational support and the principal types of support mechanisms being used to reflect corporate interests. Ways in which diverse corporate interests can be accommodated by program structure are shown. The casebook provides a means for companies with established programs of educational support to evaluate what they are doing in comparison with other companies of similar size and characteristics. It can help corporate executives reappraise what they are doing, learn of new techniques, and modify their programs according to developing interests. Only a sample of programs are included in the 197 entries. Those represented in this volume are primarily those that have cooperated with the Council for Financial Aid to Education over the past 20 years, including several philanthropic foundations as well as corporations such as General Motors. Among the information provided in the profiles are: foundation or company name; address; the officer responsible for such programs; total educational grants in a recent year; the purpose of the aid-to-education program; and the types of aid programs provided (unrestricted, operating, research, matching gifts, indirect, individual student or faculty support, etc.). Three indexes are provided: (1) participating companies, alphabetically arranged, (2) participating companies by field of business, and (3) participating companies by categories of giving.
