Pao's Selection Method for Quality Papers and the Subsequent Use of Medical Literature

Pao's "quality filter" selection method is re-examined as to its effectiveness in selecting papers that not only are of use to medical educators but to researchers as well. It is concluded that the method does provide the librarian with a tool for forming a highly selective bibliography in a particular medical literature without need for subject expertise. (LBH)
