[Environmental Education the Organic Way.]
Interdisciplinary teaching resources for environmental studies at all educational levels are combined in this set of materials. Items include: (1) teaching aids for science, health, and nature study entitled: (a) "Insects--Here to Help You and the Environment," an 18-minute color filmstrip, cassette sound track and accompanying teacher's guide for grades 7-12, (b) "Color Me Healthy," a coloring book to introduce primary grade children to nutritional concepts, and (c) "Handbook of Composting," a teacher's guide and large poster showing steps in compost building for grades five through eight; (2) a single concept unit, "Teaching Science with Garbage," for teachers of science, mathematics, and social studies in lower elementary through junior high school grades. Emphasis is on composting or microbial decomposition under controlled conditions; (3) organic classroom materials including: (a) "Basic Organic Gardening Course," a teacher's guide for elementary through adult education levels, and (b) "The Basic Book of Organic Gardening," a companion text for the course; and (4) a series of article reprints from "Organic Gardening and Farming" ranging from starting seeds, companionate plantings and new garden varieties to bug pests and cooking recipes.
