Who Fits? A Dialog on the Politics of "Doing-Being" a Scholar
Tooms, Autumn; English, Fenwick
Educational Policy, v24 n1 p221-244 2010
This chapter is based on heuristic research and phenomenology which honors the dialectic of personal narratives as a way to process and understand the politics of change centered on hegemony, discourse, and cultural plurality. This methodology utilizes personal narrative and dialog as way to consider the importance of reflecting on individual experiences, engaging in authentic dialog, and leadership within our profession. "Fit", a definitive post structuralist framework that explains the convergence of politics and identity opens the discussion. This is followed by our personal narratives. Finally, through discourse analysis, we consider the themes in our narratives as they are relate to leadership, career politics, academe, and identity. (Contains 3 notes.)
