Scientists' role in the conversion of the arms industry is discussed in the context of research and solutions to economic problems related to arms conversion. Suggestions for preparing to undertake arms conversion based on Russia's postwar experience are presented. Scientists should prove that disarmament is desirable and will benefit humanity. (SR)
