Are Small Schools and Private Schools Better for Adolescents' Emotional Adjustment?
Watt, Toni Terling
Sociology of Education, v76 n4 p344-67 Oct 2003
Uses National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health 1994 to determine whether adolescents benefit from small and/or private schools. Examines depression, suicide and violent dispositions. Refutes claims that students attending these schools are more emotionally adjusted. Discovers these small and/or private schools may actually be detrimental to adolescents' mental health. (CAJ)
