A Revised Guide for Improving Teacher Education in Human Rights.
Phi Delta Kappa, Bloomington, IN. Commission of Education, Human Rights, and Responsibilities.
This document serves as a guide for teacher education institutions and programs designed to prepare educators for meeting their responsibilities in the area of human rights and human relations. This second edition of the guide represents a substantial modification of the original guide, and includes many activities, experiences, and suggestions from individuals and representative institutions who have been actively involved in implementation efforts to improve their teacher education programs in the areas of human rights. The book is divided into five parts, which describe the foundations of a human rights program, and the kind of leadership needed to implement a program, individual and institutional practices developed for actually dealing with human rights issues, and strategies for the implementation of human rights education programs into public school systems. An extensive bibliography of both print and audiovisual materials is appended. (LB)
