Aquatic Plants and their Control.
Michigan State Dept. of Natural Resources, Lansing.
Aquatic plants can be divided into two types: algae and macrophytes. The goal of aquatic plant management is to maintain a proper balance of plants within a lake and still retain the lake's recreational and economic importance. Aquatic plant management programs have two phases: long-term management (nutrient control), and short-term management (direct manipulation of algae and macrophyte populations). Some of the principles and techniques of long- and short-term aquatic plant management are discussed. (Author/BB)
