This 1986-87 fact book for Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) presents data on institutional characteristics, faculty and staff, full-time equivalent enrollments, student characteristics, and facilities for the MATC district and each of the college campuses. Highlights derived from an analysis of data and trends include the following: (1) enrollment in associate degree courses increased from 28.4% of headcount in fall 1980 to 40.7% of headcount in fall 1986 and from 51.96% of full-time equivalents (FTE) in 1980 to 57.2% of FTE in 1985; (2) the percent of minorities enrolled increased from 24.0% in day classes in fall 1980 to 30.5% in fall 1986; (3) a majority of enrollees were female in both day and evening classes throughout the 1980s; (4) first semester day headcount enrollment increased from 15,666 in 1985-86 to 16,115 in 1986-87, while evening headcount enrollment decreased from 20,322 to 18,544; (5) associate degree fall headcount enrollment decreased from an all-time high of 14,946 in 1985-86 to 14,527 in 1986-87; and (6) college-parallel fall day and evening total headcount increased to 1,857 in 1986-87 from 1,783 in 1985-86 after dropping from 2,387 in 1984-85.
