Sources of Variation in Consequences of Everyday Activity Settings on Child and Parent Functioning
Trivette, Carol; Dunst, Carl; Hamby, Deborah
Perspectives in Education, v22 n2 p17-36 Jun 2004
Relationships between acculturation and enculturation, parent beliefs about child learning methods and parenting roles in children's learning, children's participation in family and community activity settings, and a variety of child, parent and family outcomes were examined in a sample of 203 parents. Information received from these parents indicated that enculturation, parent education, family financial resources, and parental beliefs were differentially related to children's participation in activity settings. Findings also revealed relationships between parent beliefs, children's participation in family and community activity settings, and different child and parent outcomes.
