Systems Engineering Applied to Training.
Silvern, Leonard C.
Written for training directors and human resource developers who have had experience and now need a systematic way to plan new programs, this book presents a new way of thinking about human learning and of organizing programs which has been developed from the systems engineering field. A first chapter explains what is meant by "systems" and goes into some detail in describing various types and functions of systems. The second chapter develops a flowchart model which attempts to identify all the essential elements in the improvement of human performance through training, and the third chapter carries this model to finer levels of detail. Simulation is introduced and defined in the fourth chapter, and an illustration of how it might function in helping solve real-life problems in conjunction with the flowchart model is also offered in this chapter. The final chapter speculates about the future of training systems. (SH)
