Management Techniques for Librarians.
Evans, G. Edward
This textbook on library management techniques is concerned with basic management problems. Examples of problems in planning, organization, and coordination are drawn from situations in libraries or information centers. After an introduction to library management, the history of management is covered. Several styles of management and organization are presented. One chapter discusses creativity and the library. Others introduce decision making, planning, and delegation respectively. A discussion of delegation of authority follows. Communication and motivation are discussed along with personnel, finance, and work analysis. The final chapter deals with the role of library management in the future. (CH)
