Updating Policy on Latest Risks for Students with Cell Phones in the School
St. Gerard, Vanessa
Education Digest: Essential Readings Condensed for Quick Review, v72 n4 p43-45 Dec 2006
It is hard to imagine how the majority of people made it through the day without cell phones just 5 to 10 years ago. These days, cell phones are everywhere, and everyone seems to own one--including many middle school students and even some students who are in elementary school. Both parents and students feel these phones are essential in order to keep tabs on the day's activities. This does not change the fact, however, that disruptions that take place during class and the possibility of cheating and the taking of inappropriate pictures are forcing schools to revise or create cell phone policies to avoid these issues. In this article, the author discusses how schools are updating their policy on the latest risks for students with cell phones in the school.
