This report contains a review of the Asian Programme of Educational Innovation for Development (APEID), a cooperative program of 18 member states in Asia and Oceania. The review was conducted by the Sixth Regional Consultation Meeting, held at Bangalore, India, from April 22 to 30, 1979. The report is comprised of four parts. Part I contains a review of APEID including discussions of various aspects of the program. Trends and developments in education in the region is the topic dealt with in Part II. The most critical problem encountered by the countries in the region is how education can contribute to the eradication of mass poverty which has hampered the achievement of the goal of providing equal opportunity for social mobility to all the people. Part III presents the results of two group discussions. Group A discussed nonformal education and information development and dissemination. Group B looked at the progress, problems, and outcomes of attachment/internship programs and the scope, design, and plan for the implementation of selected joint innovative projects. APEID activities for 1980-1981 are treated in Part IV. The annexes include the agenda, the inaugural addresses, the list of participants, and the group members. (Author/RM)
