Opportunities for Research and Study. A Listing of the Fellowships, Affiliated Scholar Programs, Grants, and Internships Sponsored by Member Centers of the National Council for Research on Women.
Baker, Saphira
Prior to the 1970s, research about women was largely limited to the work of individual scholars working in isolation within their own disciplines. Women's studies programs first appeared on campus in 1969, and scholarly research about women began a period of unprecedented growth. Organized centers for research about women also came into being for the first time during the 1970s. Today there are nearly 500 women's studies programs on campuses throughout the United States, most of them campus based but others free-standing. Collectively, they provide the institutional resources for research that supplement the efforts of individual scholars and make possible the development of large scale and interdisciplinary research programs. This listing of the fellowships, affiliated scholar programs, grants, and internships sponsored by Member Centers of the National Council for Research on Women includes: address, phone, contact person, and description of each opportunity.
