A project was conducted to identify and collect software, hardware, and print materials to enable vocational teachers to use computers with handicapped students; to conduct a series of workshops emphasizing hands-on experiences with computer hardware and software; and to design a booklet describing research and resource materials for these teachers. Letters were sent out to area vocational-technical schools and to local intermediate units requesting information on how computers were being used with handicapped students. Site visits were made to vocational schools with computer programs for special students that were identified as being successful. After conducting a survey to identify available software, appropriate software and print materials describing computer usage in general and by disabled persons in particular were ordered. A series of three one-hour workshops dealing with using computer hardware and software were presented for vocational educators. A booklet describing computer literacy, computer hardware, and software and containing an annotated bibliography of collected print materials was prepared and distributed to the workshop participants.
