Reviews the research on racial prejudice and discrimination in U.S. society and the development of racial attitudes among children, especially preschoolers. Concludes that schools have a serious responsibility to incorporate in the curriculum programs that help students understand cultural differences and develop social skills that will enhance interracial harmony.
