Explores the domain of personal counseling for faculty in contemporary higher education. Desirable personality characteristics of the teacher-counselor are examined and a range of traditional counseling problems are identified. Suggests there is an appropriate role for counseling that should be rewarded as a valuable dimension of college teaching. (Author)
