This document is the twentieth publication of a comprehensive data book by the Illinois College Board (ICCB). It contains data and characteristics of the Illinois public community college system and is designed to serve as a basic reference. The document contains no statistical analysis; therefore, statistical inferences of data is not intended in this document. The data are obtained from various surveys and studies conducted by ICCB staff and from the colleges' annual MIS submissions. This document contains specific data from the fiscal year 2001. Key data include: (1) 339,002 students enrolled in the Illinois public community college system, 57% of whom were women; (2) 69% of students enrolled were part-time; and (3) 43% of students were enrolled in baccalaureate/transfer programs, 34% in occupational/vocational programs, and 15% in adult basic education. Enrollment data and faculty and staff data are collected during the fall term each year and contain information on (1) students; (2) faculty and staff; (3) annual enrollment and completion; (4) operating finance; and (5) capital construction. Each of these college segments constitutes a section of the document, and several tables summarize data from more detailed reports that have been published separately. (ND)
