Charles Darwin: His Life, Journeys and Discoveries. A Teacher's Guide.
Overy, Caroline
This handbook aims to: (1) introduce teachers and pupils to Charles Darwin, his life and work at Down House, his voyage on the Beagle, and his evolutionary theory; (2) set his ideas within the wider context of the 19th century; (3) link the subject areas to the British National Curriculum, particularly in history, science, and English at various levels; and (4) provide ideas for activities for pupils. The book is divided into three sections covering Darwin the man, the voyage of the Beagle, and evolutionary theory. Each section includes a variety of source material to illustrate the topic. There are 23 brief chapters with illustrations, a timeline, and a bibliography in the book. (EH)
