The Children's Aid Society (CAS), one of the country's oldest and largest non-sectarian child and family welfare agencies, has 37 sites in New York with an annual operating budget of over $60 million. This annual report highlights the activities of the organization for the 2001 fiscal year and presents information on the work of CAS to complete its mission of ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of children and families and to provide each child with the support and opportunities needed to become a happy, healthy, and successful adult. Following the mission statement and an announcement of the group's Web site are comments from both the chairman and executive director/CEO. The report continues with information on CAS's impact on national social policy through its programs related to community schools, teen pregnancy prevention, and health insurance enrollment. Also included in the report is a "snapshot" of one day's activities in CAS programs, acknowledgement of the many partner organizations with which CAS works and important volunteer activities, as well as the treasurer's report, information on providing contributions to the organization, a list of members of the organization, bequests received in 2001, foundation and corporate donors, tributes, and in-kind contributions.
