This profile, the 27th in a series initiated in 1975, is a collection of statistical information about North Carolina's elementary and secondary schools. The purpose of this book is to provide general statistical data to the public, professional educators, and the North Carolina General Assembly. Tables with statewide data are presented in part 1 for: (1) pupil accounting; (2) nonpromotion rate by grade; (3) projected final average daily membership; (4) exceptional pupils; (5) pupil membership by race and gender; (6) high school graduates' intentions; (7) projections of high school graduates; and (8) public school dropout and retention data. Part 2 contains data on pupil accounting, high school graduate intentions, public school personnel, and current expense expenditures for each local school system.
