Art of the Pacific Islands. [CD-ROM].
Pacific Resources for Education and Learning, Honolulu, HI.
Oceanic art has long been recognized for its quality and its influence on Western art. This CD-ROM presents over 100 of the finest examples of art from the Pacific region in the form of museum photos, contemporary video segments, and music. The CD-ROM includes such artifacts as masks and carvings from Melanesia, canoes and storyboards from Micronesia, and tapa and feather cloaks from Polynesia, accompanied by historical and cultural descriptions. The CD-ROM has six sections that can be accessed from the main menu: View Art, Search, Index, Resources, Help, and About this CD. All the artifacts collected on the CD can be accessed by country, usage, or keyword, making it possible to easily incorporate Pacific Island art into a variety of disciplines and grade levels. Classes in art, social studies, geography, history, humanities, health, and environment will be enriched by the material on the CD-ROM as will curricula organized by multi-disciplines. (BT)
